It’s been two years since I moved to my current location. It’s provoked a lot of reflection in the last few days.

Today is Friday. Before radically changing my life I’d be spending long hours from Monday to Friday, ripping my hair out leading a huge portfolio of early learning services across different states, reporting into executive, managing big budgets, cringing at deadlines, dealing with government bodies and living life for the weekend.

Today I finished my morning practice, I’ve done some work on the land to prepare for a group of campers coming in & I finished ‘work’ before lunchtime. I’ve been strolling to the river for multiple dips and meandering back to my little home naked, because no one is around except for the kookaburras and butterflies. I had a little nap on my deck amongst the treetops. I’ve done some personal admin and pretty much chilled out and relaxed for the afternoon.

It’s got me thinking what are we really here for? I mean, what is our purpose?

Not that many years ago. people lived in villages, in communities, growing their own food, building their homes, and caring for their loved ones and the land. They had a lot of time to sit around, chat and laugh and explore. They were completely connected to the land and each other. Nowadays, we go to work for long hours, to earn money to live in houses that we can’t afford and to buy more things and stuff. We get 2 to 4 weeks break, out of 52 weeks a year, for holidays which many will shut and lock-up all the things they’ve bought and are paying off to go visit a place they have never been to before, which will be a distant memory once returning to their workplace and home. Then, if we are lucky to make it to 65 and can afford to retire we get to enjoy time and freedom to the extent that our bodies and minds are capable of. It all seems pretty bloody crazy.

I too was caught up in the hamster wheel working hard to buy more things, saving for that deposit, living for the weekend and for that 2 to 4 week holiday each year. I was minutes away from signing a contract for a 1 bedroom apartment for $800 000!!!

Now experiencing this lifestyle, being immersed in nature, earning a very modest income, pulling my purse strings in very tight. I’ve realised that the less I have the less I want. What felt like a huge sacrifice, when I lost my six figure salary now feels like a blessing, I own my own home it’s on wheels & can go anywhere. It’s small and easy to maintain, and I do something different every day learning to live on and care for land and spread love and promote healing and happiness through yoga, breathwork and women’s circles.

I’m so grateful for the teachings in the last few years and a lot of it has been damn bloody hard. However, I’ve really learnt what’s important. Less stuff and keeping it simple! Good health, love for self, love for family and community and love for the planet and time! Time and freedom to choose how to spend it.

❤️🧡
